Another look into the Virginia 10 Milerβs rich history:
π Our Start and Finish Line have been on Langhorne Road outside of EC Glass High School since the very beginning in 1974.
The school holds a special place in the heart of thousands of finishers who have celebrated their accomplishments there for nearly 50 years.
Not to mention, the Virginia 10 Miler has been greatly impacted by the service of the EC Glass sports teams and clubs who give their time to volunteer along the course each year.

As one of the oldest 10-mile races in the US, the Virginia 10 Miler is celebrating its 49th running this year.
With a long history of attracting prestigious runners, Lynchburg has hosted many Olympians over the years like Rod Dixon, Frank Shorter, Bill Rogers, Jeff Galloway, John Vitale, Anne Audain, Joan Benoit Samuelson, and more.
Pictured: Bill Rodgers and Frank Shorter cross the finish line in an unprecedented tie in 1975. Of course, there had to be a winner, and the victory that year was awarded to Bill Rodgers (48:17).
